This Texas-themed birthday cake is for my favorite Texan. Topped by a 3-dimensional recreation of the famous Alamo in San Antonio and completed with a landscape of prickly pear and saguaro cacti, the cake also features the Texas state flag. It is made from his favorite cake, a rich chocolate sour cream pound cake, iced with vanilla bean Swiss meringue buttercream, and filled with a home-made raspberry conserve buttercream.
A small two-tier birthday cake. Both tiers are almond cake with alternating layers of French custard and triple berry buttercream fillings. A rich vanilla-bean French buttercream covers the cake, which was then adorned with quilling style clover leaf designs made from modeling chocolate and a happy birthday plaque.
