The post title pretty much says it all, this time! The castle is three tiers of marble butter cake, filled with light whipped ganache, and topped with Swiss meringue buttercream and homemade fondant. Gumpaste towers with gilded roofs were then added. The cake was completed with the addition of three gumpaste figurines: a dragon, attacking the castle, and a knight and princess defending it with sword and bow.
A cake to celebrate the end of a continuing education class for a soon-to-be journeyman electrician. Two tiers of chocolate sour cream pound cake, covered in vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream, are accented with homemade fondant decorations. A couple of outlets on the front (one a GFI) and wrappings of orange and green wires completes the first tier. The second tier is made to look like a spool of wire and topped by a fondant wire stripper tool.
Rose buttercream swirls adorn the bottom tier of this fourth anniversary cake. The top tier has simple sugar pearl flowers and piped vines to echo the bride’s wedding dress. The lower tier is dairy-free frosting and coconut cake with raspberry filling, while the top tier is champagne cake layered with cream cheese frosting and raspberry conserve and finished with vanilla bean Swiss meringue buttercream.
A small two-tier birthday cake. Both tiers are almond cake with alternating layers of French custard and triple berry buttercream fillings. A rich vanilla-bean French buttercream covers the cake, which was then adorned with quilling style clover leaf designs made from modeling chocolate and a happy birthday plaque.
Another square wedding cake design! This time, a three tier cake is covered in a creamy white fondant with a contrasting teal second tier. The teal second tier is decorated with piped royal icing designs; each side has a different design. The golden fondant ribbons and a gilded beaded border provide finishing touches.
I delivered this wedding cake to Front Royal, VA on Tuesday. A towering yet still delicate cake, this simple beauty is fluffy white butter cake with a creamy, vanilla-flavored American buttercream and raspberry filling. Deep purple ribbons are homemade fondant. The design is finished with delicate cascades of wisteria and clusters of white gumpaste roses.
This is an experimental wedding cake to try out a new stacking technique. Both tiers are chocolate cake with chocolate Swiss Meringue buttercream. Decorations are gumpaste blossoms, leaves, buds, and a gilded chalice.
